Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how doodDevelopments, LLC (“SwellPirate,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use swellpirate.com and the SwellPirate iOS app (together, the “Services”).

Contact: doodDevelopments, LLC, 1023 E Lincolnway, Cheyenne, WY 82001 — hey@swellpirate.com

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Services, we may process:

  • Account & iCloud data. The iOS app relies on your Apple iCloud / CloudKit account. Content you create in the app (such as Sirens, Flags, and related preferences) is stored in CloudKit associated with your Apple ID.
  • Local preferences. Settings stored on your device (for example, home airport) via app preferences.
  • Purchases & subscriptions. Whether you have an active SwellPirate Pro entitlement. Purchase processing is handled by Apple; we receive subscription status through Apple and RevenueCat.
  • Push notifications. If you enable notifications, we use Apple push / CloudKit subscriptions to alert you about Siren matches and similar events.
  • Feature feedback. If you submit feature requests or feedback in the app (WishKit), that content and related metadata may be stored by WishKit on our behalf.
  • Website usage. When you visit swellpirate.com, we may collect device and usage data (pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, referrer, and similar analytics) via PostHog, Plausible, and standard server logs.
  • Communications. If you email us (for example at hey@swellpirate.com), we keep the content of that correspondence and your contact details to respond.
  • Transactional email. If we send email related to the Services, we may use Resend to deliver those messages.

We do not require a separate SwellPirate username/password. Surf forecast and destination content is generally public data; personalization is tied to your Apple account and local settings.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The website may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for analytics (including PostHog), preferences, and affiliate attribution (for example, Booking.com). You can control cookies through your browser settings. Plausible is designed to be cookie-light; some other features may not work fully if cookies are disabled.

5. Retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes. CloudKit data associated with your Apple ID is retained according to Apple’s CloudKit policies and your account. You can delete Sirens, Flags, and related app data from within the app (including account/data reset where available). Analytics and support emails are retained for a reasonable period and then deleted or anonymized.
